Term 3 Week 7 2025
PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
This week I had the privilege of joining in a prayer and reflection on the life of Mother Teresa. Her life of service and her words continue to inspire people across the world, and they speak to us here at St Mary’s in a very real way. Mother Teresa once said, “We cannot always do great things. We can only do small things with great love.”
This message is such a powerful reminder for our school community. Each day we see small but meaningful acts of kindness—students helping one another, staff encouraging and guiding learning, families giving their time and support. It is in these everyday moments that I feel our community truly shines.
School Mass
Next weekend, we have our School Mass. This is a great opportunity for us to once again gather as a community. We would love to see families attend whether Catholic or not (everyone is welcome!). Mass is at 8.30am on Sunday 14th September and if your child is able to take on a role (reading, bringing up the offertory), please reach out to Mrs Dumbrell.
Father’s Day Breakfast Tomorrow
This Friday, 5th September, we will host a Father’s Day Breakfast. This special occasion is not only for fathers, but also for male role models, grandparents, and the special women who lovingly take on these important roles within families. It is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to gather together, enjoy a shared meal, and celebrate the gift of family. Breakfast will be served from 7:30am, and supervision for students will also be available from this time. Families are welcome to join us for a quick bite before heading off to work, or to stay a little longer and enjoy a conversation with others in our community.
2025 Mortimer Shield
Today, our students took part in the Mortimer Shield, alongside students from St Patrick’s, Gundagai. It was a terrific day for students to learn a bit more about League Tag and Rugby League, develop their teamwork and of course, there were plenty of tries scored too!
Beyond the results on the field, what is standing out most at these types of events, is the growing confidence of our students as they step outside their comfort zones and embrace new opportunities. Their willingness to participate and give their best is a wonderful reflection of the attitude and spirit we are encouraging at St Mary’s - and our students are most certainly leading the way with this.

Children’s Mass
Next Sunday, the 14th of September we will celebrate Mass at 8:30 am, hosted by students of St Mary’s. All families of St Mary’s are warmly invited to attend. If you think you can attend Mass, please let me know and I will give your child a special role to practise. I would love to see as many families there as possible as this will be our last Mass for this Term.
The Canonisation of Carlo Acutis Sunday 7th September
The canonisation of Acutis, beatified in Assisi on 10 October 2020, had originally been scheduled for 27 April, the Second Sunday of Easter, to coincide with the Jubilee of Teenagers. However, it was postponed after Pope Francis's death and will now occur this Sunday. If you would like to learn more about Carlo Acutis, our first millennial saint, and our first patron saint of the internet and technology.

Father’s Day
Wishing all of our wonderful St Mary’s fathers, step-dads, uncles, grandads and father figures a very special day on Sunday. We hope you enjoy the gifts that your children have made and enjoy your time on Sunday!
