FROM THE REC
This week is the beginning of a very important Liturgical time in the Catholic church.
We begin with Ash Wednesday (26th February) and it continues for forty days ending with Easter Sunday celebrations. Mass will be 12:00 noon on Wednesday. All children will receive a cross of ashes on their forehead. The history behind this ritual will be explained to the children on Tuesday.
Each class will receive a Caritas Project Compassion box for their classroom. We are encouraged to give charitably during this time of Lent. Donations to this charity allow for local communities around the world to be assisted.
Today is Pancake (Shrove) Tuesday. Pancakes were cooked and handed out at recess today.
There was no cost for the pancakes.
You may see the staff from St. Mary’s at the bakery early on Thursday mornings. We will start a Lenten prayer program beginning this week at the bakery and have a coffee while we are there.
Prayer is an exercise. It takes practice, which takes a lifetime to perfect. It brings with it times of great insight and joy and times of utter boredom and irritation.
Childrens Mass will be this Sunday 1st March 8:30 am. We will have a sausage sizzle for breakfast after Mass.
You are all most welcome to join us.
