PRINCIPALS REPORT
Dear Parents and Carers,
In our staff room we have a large sign that says ‘slow, relentless improvement’. It is a term often used by educational researcher Guy Claxton. As a staff we chose to put it there early last year as our guiding principle for the daily work we do. Now, just over 12 months later we are proud of how far our students are progressing in literacy and numeracy. Small improvements, every day, support learning progress for each student in our school.
Parent Teacher Interviews Week 10. Coming up in Week 10 are parent teacher interviews. All parents are urged to select a time to meet with your child’s teacher in this week. This is an opportunity for just parents and teachers to discuss their child’s progress following the semester report going home on Friday in Week 9. Please access the link to select your preferred time.
Staff Development Day-Staff will be involved in a staff development day on the first day of Term 3, Monday 20 July. They will be participating in a spirituality day with other schools across the Western Region led by Fr Richard Leonard. Parents are advised that this day is a pupil free day.
Homework Folders-Homework folders are going home every day and returning every day. Thank you to parents for supporting this routine which also supports reading material going home regularly in the folder. Every student should be now back into a regular home reading routine in the evening to support the regular reading they also do at school every day.
On a final note, a gentle reminder to label all jumpers that your child wears. If items are labelled owners are found easily. We appreciate your help in this matter.
Have a lovely week everyone.
