PRINCIPALS REPORT
Dear Parents,
We have reached the end of Term 2! It has been a fairly quiet term with no carnivals, incursions or excursions. Learning in our daily Literacy and Numeracy blocks has been very consistent and I congratulate our students on being ready for learning as they enter the room each morning.
Parent teacher interviews start today and continue tomorrow. This is an opportunity for parents and teachers to have a conversation about your child’s progress. Teachers have spent much time preparing for the interviews to follow up Semester One Reports that were distributed last Friday and they are looking forward to connecting with you. If you are yet to make a time, please contact the front office and Tricia Marsh can assist you. Parents will be asked to sign in via the front office on arrival and hand sanitiser and social distancing measures will be put in place.
In great news for St Mary’s, we have been very fortunate in accessing The Resilience Project for Semester Two which will target strategies to engage students in activities centred on gratitude, empathy, mindfulness and kindness. It is a high profile program currently operating across NSW schools and will be delivered to us online and facilitated by classroom teachers. We look forward to sharing more details with parents next term as the program unfolds.
To celebrate the end of Term 2 we are having a Fun Run Day here at school this Thursday. Students will need to wear their sports uniform. The run will be an obstacle course around our playground and individual student times will be recorded. Lunch will be provided by St Patrick’s Trundle who fundraised for us after the bushfires. Students have ordered party pies, sausage rolls, or a pie. We also have packets of chips and fruit boxes available. Students will only need their fruit, some recess and their water bottle. Please contact us if you would like more information.
A reminder that Monday 20 July is a Staff Development Day and teachers will be working with Western Region schools on spirituality, via Zoom. All students are to commence Term 3, Tuesday 21 July.
In the meantime, I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful holiday.
Warm Regards
Jannine
