PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Dear Parents,
I hope your weekend was a little break in what has been a very 'chilly' June so far, chillier than usual. It has been great to see so many students wearing jackets, gloves and beanies to help keep warm when coming to and from school. Thank you. Staff have been providing inside options at break times over the past fortnight and this will continue whilst the extreme weather continues.
Take Care at Pick Up Time
Our afternoon pick up routine happens quickly. Recently I have had cause for concern as several vehicles are pulling directly into the driveway to collect their children which is a NO STOPPING zone. Some parents are even conducting a U turn in this space. I strongly urge parents to not do this. A student being struck by a vehicle is a real possibility. Police have been notified of our concerns and witches hats may be used to cordon off the driveway if it continues.
To support safe pick up of students parents are reminded :
- drive 40 km in Selwyn street between 8am to 4pm
- park your car and come to the gate or into the school yard to collect children, particularly our youngest students.
- please supervise your child carefully on the way back to your vehicle
- children who are walking or riding home will not be allowed to leave the school yard until the traffic has reduced on Selwyn St.
Please note that teachers have been asked to park their vehicles on the opposite side of Selwyn St to free up space for parent vehicles.
Western Region Athletics-Cootamundra
The carnival is this Thursday and we wish all our competitors safe travel and a successful day. The opportunity to practise has been non existent with the poor weather we have been experiencing, but hopefully we will have that chance tomorrow.
Safe On Social
This event is next Monday 20 June. Student session is from 2pm to 3pm and parent session is 6.30 to 7.30pm.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Emily, Nace, Ethan and Thomas will be making the Sacrament of Confirmation this Thursday evening at the Catholic Church in Tumut. I will be in Boorowa at a Western Region Principal's meeting that evening and will unfortunately not be there, but I want to extend my blessings and warm congratulations to each one of them.
Have a lovely week everyone.
