Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 6! This week we celebrate the beginning of Lent with Mass on Ash Wednesday. In Lent, we reflect on how we can become better people that model Jesus’ teachings. Ashes are placed, in the sign of the cross, on everyones' forehead to express their faith and penance.  All parents and friends are welcome to join us in the church at 12 noon.

This week Ms Soulsby is on leave. She, and her horse, have qualified for at the Australian Reined Horse Championships being held in Sydney. We wish Ms Soulsby good luck as she experiences this opportunity of a life time. We look forward to photos and results coming in over the week. Ms Oberholzer will be looking after K/1 while Ms Soulsby is away.

Also competing on a bigger stage are William Smith and Daniel Korn, two of our Year 6 leaders. The boys have  competed in the Archdiocesan Swimming Carnival held in Narooma and both have qualified in their events. They will now head to the MacKillop Swimming Carnival. We are very proud of their achievements.

Parent Teacher interviews are coming up in Week 8. Interviews time will be forwarded to parents shortly. Interviews are a valuable opportunity for both parents and teachers.

Over the past week teachers have noticed many students bringing toys from home. This is fine and adds to creative play at recess and lunch. We do ask that parents ensure that toys are not too precious or expensive (no more than $10 in value) and that toys remain in student bags when lessons are underway. Please also remind your child/ren that any toys brought to school are brought at the students own risk. Lost and broken toys can cause much distress.

Storage has long been an issue in the library as we have been continually growing our book collection. Thank you to our Community Council for funding the purchase of new shelving and thank you to the Sullivan family for the many hours spent transporting and erecting the shelves last Sunday. Your support is greatly appreciated.

 Have a lovely week everyone.
