Principal's Message

Hello Everyone,

Our Athletics Carnival was a huge success last Thursday especially due to the enthusiasm of the students on such a fine day. The competition between both schools was fairly even and provided much entertainment from high jump, track events and the 4 x 100m relays. The cheering was fantastic and all students had a really fun day. A big thank you to the parents who helped operate the canteen on the day and especially to Bev Sullivan who coordinated lunches for both St Mary's and St Joseph's students. Students who have qualified to represent St Mary's at the Western Region in Cootamundra Friday 28 June, will receive notes shortly.

The NSW government website has clear guidelines around seat belt restraint for primary aged students. Students between 4 and 7 should be in a child booster seat unless they are taller than 145cm when an adult lap seat belt is permitted. Please access the website  for further details.

This week is Reconciliation Week and today K-6 students combined for an assembly to acknowledge the theme Grounded in Truth, Walk together with Courage. It is a significant date on our national calendar and students demonstrated their respect for the message throughout the assembly.

Last week, staff considered carefully the room allocation we currently have operating in our school. We decided it would be in the best interest of our Year 2/3/4 students to move the class into the Library where they will have more 'room to move'. Year 5/6 will then move into the emptied Year 2/3/4 room and the Library will go into the room vacated by Year 5/6. The official moving day will be Friday 14 June, with smaller items being done beforehand. Although the move is an an upheaval to some degree, the outcome will, most importantly, support the learning needs of our students.

 Have a lovely week ahead,

 Jannine
