PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Carers,

A big thank you to the parents who attended our Home Reading Tips Information night last Thursday. All information was forwarded to K-3 families who were not able to be there. We have also included the Home Reading tips sheet (which is actually a fridge magnet in hard copy) in this newsletter for your easy reference. We hope you find the tips useful and easy to implement when reading with your child. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to talk with myself or your child’s class teacher. We are more than happy to support you. The major emphasis is to share with your child a love of literature. “Good readers are made in the lap of a parent.” We will run this session again early next year.

This Friday, Year 3 and 4 are heading to Tumut for the Todd Woodbridge Cup. We wish all students a fun filled day of tennis and look forward to hearing about their day. Year 2 will have a day with Ms Murray and myself which will be just as fabulous.

There are many coughs and colds in our school right now. Many students (and teachers) are kept home from school when unwell and we appreciate this helps minimise the spread of viruses. Please assist in our record keeping by sending in absentee notes. This can be done via email, schoolzine or on paper. Phoning the school is not in this category. A written reason for student absences that is signed by parents/carers must be forwarded to the school. Schools need to keep these notes filed with our records.

Finally, a special mention to our teachers who took on the Year 6 challenge to come dressed in our St Vincent de Paul clothes last Thursday. We looked pretty fabulous in our recycled clothes and shared the cost of our outfits with the students in a mini assembly after lunch. Sadly, no photos were taken but a cheque for $200.10 will be forwarded to St Vincent de Paul shortly which was raised from our Pyjama Day last term.

Have a lovely week everyone!  Jannine
