Hello Everyone,
Book a Tour in May!
Any family wishing to discuss enrolling their Kindergarten child at St Mary’s in 2022 are invited to book a tour. I am available Tuesday and Thursdays 3:00-4:00pm during May. When parents enrol in the month of May it allows us to plan efficiently into 2022.
We are also open to enrolling students in all other grades for any other prospective families wishing to take a look at St Mary’s for their child now in 2021. Come a see what we offer here at St Mary’s! Book a tour via our front office secretary, Ms Patricia Marsh, or myself.
NAPLAN
We have NAPLAN this week for students in Year 3 and 5. Today, students completed the writing section and over the next few days they will complete assessments in Reading, Language Conventions and Numeracy. The majority of assessments are conducted online. Results will not be returned to the parents, and the school, until the end of Term 3. Students in Year 3 and 5 are to be at school for these assessments which will be conducted in the morning session. Make up tests can be scheduled if students are ill.
National Walk Safely to School Day
It is National Walk Safely to School Day this Friday 14 May. The day encourages students to be active and walk to school to increase their overall fitness and create regular walking habits. Any student walking to school on Friday may see the teacher on duty for a special ‘tattoo’ to mark the day. The day also reminds us that:
“Until they’re ten, children must always hold an adult’s hand when crossing the road”.
Next week we have the Life Education Van visit on Tuesday 18 May and our Athletics Carnival at the Batlow Showground on Thursday. Our postponed High jump/Long jump trip to Tumut for Yr 2-6 has been rescheduled to Monday 24 May.
Have a lovely week everyone.

Thank you to the 5/6 students and Miss Crozier for leading us in a beautiful Mass last Thursday to celebrate Catholic Schools Week.
Open Day & BBQ
Thank you to the parents who attended the Open Classrooms and BBQ to celebrate Catholic Schools Week.
Christian Meditation
Last week we were fortunate to have Helen Bramanathan from Catholic Education come to work with students and staff on Christian Meditation. Archbishop Christopher Prowse announced that he wanted every student in every school of the diocese to be using Christian Meditation as another integral form of prayer. Therefore it was wonderful to have conversations with Helen to ensure that what we are doing at St Mary’s is authentic and rich for our students.
Christian Meditation is contemplative prayer:
BE STILL
Sit still, back upright. Breathe calmly. Close your eyes lightly.
BE SILENT
Silently repeat the mantra–‘Ma-ra-na-tha’. Focus on the mantra, repeat continually.
BE SIMPLE
Let go of all thoughts. If your mind wanders return to the mantra. No evaluation required. Be open to the Holy Spirit working in the silence. Simply be with God’s Spirit in your heart.
Be still and know I am God
Be still and know I am
Be still and know
Be still
Be
