Dear Parents,
Welcome to Week 6!
We are halfway through our term already, almost all of the beautiful Autumn leaves have dropped on our playground and the cold weather is settling in. We are forecast to have a very wet week and although we may be ‘stuck’ inside, wet weather does provide a wonderful opportunity for students to interact with each other differently through play of board games, lego creations, puppets and even dress ups.
100 Year Celebrations 2023

It would be wonderful to have parent input. If you are interested in joining the committee please email Mrs Richards or the office email by this Friday 3rd of June so preparations can get underway. office.stmarysbatlow@cg.catholic.edu.au.
An exciting time for our beautiful school!

If you are unable to find the link or have not received it please let our front office know. The survey is open until Friday 10th of June.
Have a splendid week everyone and stay warm.

Feast of the Ascension
Last Thursday, 26th of May, Catholics celebrated the Feast of the Ascension - Ascension Thursday and Holy Thursday is held on a Thursday 39 days (40th day of Easter) after Easter Sunday. This day commemorates Jesus Christ’s ascension into heaven. After Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, Scripture tells us, he was seen for forty days before he ascended into heaven to be “seated at the right hand of God the Father.” (Apostle’s Creed) This is significant as it shows that he returned to Heaven after completing his mission on earth. After Jesus’ ascension, the disciples awaited the promised Spirit in Jerusalem. The Ascension marks the end of the Easter season, and Pentecost follows ten days later.
Phil Whickam does a lovely rendition of the Ascension in song. St Mary’s sang this song beautifully at the Western Region Choir Competition during 2019. You might like to have a listen with the following link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23u5t5__WPc
Sacraments
Last Wednesday evening 4 St Mary’s students; Emily, Thomas, Ethan and Nace, along with their parents, attended their first sacramental meeting for Confirmation. They combined with children from Tumut and Adelong parishes and Father George explained the importance of their final sacrament in their schooling years.
We wish the children and their parents many blessings over the coming weeks as they prepare to receive their sacrament on the 16th of June.
Have a lovely week everyone.
