Welcome to Term 2! I hope you all had a wonderful break and enjoyed lots of outdoor activities in the fabulous sunshine!
On Tuesday we gathered for ANZAC Day to remember the brave men and women that fought in World Wars and recognise those currently serving. It was humbling to see so many of our students attend. All students represented St Mary’s beautifully and displayed sincere reverance.
Thank you to our Year 6 leader, Nace, who shared the King’s prayer with the community, and to Lacey and Morgan for presenting the wreath. We are proud to have you represent our school as leaders.
Whilst Mrs Richards is away in the Holy Lands, exploring lands that Jesus once walked through, seeing some spectacular sites, churches and villages, we have a busy term coming up!
Please be aware of some of the events over the next few weeks:
Cross Country - Grenfell
Tomorrow, a number of students will travel to Grenfell to participate in the Western Region Cross Country. Ms Jackson and Miss Holland will be there to assist and cheer students on the day.
Thank you to parents who are transporting children. I hope it is a fantastic day to be involved in! Please say hello to Mrs Hotham for us.
I wish all of our runners the best of luck!
Healthy Harold visit
Next Wednesday, 3rd of May, the Healthy Harold van will be on site. Students will participate in a session throughout the day with a differing focus on healthy habits. Healthy Harold is always a huge hit amongst students and we look forward to hearing of their experience.
Do you remember Healthy Harold visits?
Athletics Carnival
Proposed for Friday 12th May in Week 3. Please keep the date in mind and more details will follow over the coming weeks.
Wagga Wagga excursion
On Thursday 18th May (Week 4) students from K-6 are invited to join an excursion to Wagga to the Civic Theatre to see Roald Dahl’s ‘The Twits’ live on stage. An event note will be sent out on Compass over the next week.
Have a great week everyone.
Amy Buckmaster - Acting Principal
Welcome to Term 2! I trust you had a wonderful Easter break surrounded by family and friends, basking in the glorious sunshine we have received these past few weeks. I hope you took some time to rest, reflect, practice gratitude and feast.
On Monday, staff from St Mary’s, St Joseph’s Adelong, St Patrick’s Gundagai and McAuley Catholic College, gathered at McAuley Catholic school to participate in our annual Staff Spirituality Day.
The day was themed ‘Walking Together’ where we unpacked the piece of scripture ‘The Walk to Emmaus’ - Luke 24:13-35. A similar road that Mrs Richards is currently on, on her way to Jerusalem.
We were asked to view the scripture from what it was telling us in the past (the world behind the text - the window), how we view it in the present day and its literary features (the world of the text - the picture) and how it might be viewed as a mirror of oneself within the text and the challenges around it (the world in front of the text - the mirror).
It was a lovely day of interesting discussion and viewpoints with colleagues from our neighbouring schools.
I look forward to ‘walking together’ into Term 2 with you and your children.
Have a wonderful week.
