Community Council Expression of Interest
Following a CECG review of the current School Board and Community Council model, St Mary’s has been asked to establish a School Community Council under the new model. The council will be advisory in nature and has a key role in supporting the St Mary’s community of parents, carers, students, and staff in building an open, inclusive, welcoming, and collaborative school community environment. As part of this transition to the new School Community Council model I am asking parents/guardians/carers to show their interest in being part of this School Community Council Executive Committee via a brief expression of interest (through the attached Google Form)
For interested parents and guardians, please fill out the attached Google Form (click here to complete) by Friday 15th March. I look forward to hearing from family members wanting to join our school Community Council committee.
KidsXpress
KidsXpress is a not-for-profit that works to transform our most vulnerable members of society, intervening early to improve children’s emotional wellbeing. They work with families, schools and communities to further understand trauma and give children a better chance to achieve their potential.
Some of you may have noticed the cubby house and outdoor drums in our playground over the past few weeks. KidsXpress have very generously donated funds for these outside play options, a mud kitchen for our students, along with some books for students and families. Staff have also benefited from professional development that has allowed us to further understand trauma and practices that support students and families. I would like to acknowledge the great work of the Kids Xpress team and share a link to their website for further information: https://kidsxpress.org.au/
Cross Country Events
In Week 8 (Thursday 28th March), St Mary’s will be hosting their school cross country. Similar to the swimming carnival, parents are most welcome to attend as parent helpers or supporters. I will post details (times and schedule of events) as the day approaches.
I also wanted to flag that early in Term Two (Thursday 2nd May tbc), Batlow will be hosting the Western Region Cross Country. This will be a great opportunity for people from surrounding areas to support our local businesses and for a potential School Community Council fundraiser. Please make a note of this date as we will likely need some parent helpers to support us on this day!
Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you for your participation and engagement in our Parent Teacher Conferences. If you didn’t book a meeting with your child’s teacher or need a follow up meeting, please contact the relevant staff member, who will assist you in organising an appropriate time.
Enjoy the remainder of the week,
Ryan
