Term Dates
A quick reminder to our families that there is no school tomorrow Friday 5th July. Staff will commence Term 3 on Monday 22nd July and students will return to school on Tuesday 23rd July.
New School Equipment
Today, students got the opportunity to utilise one of several outside games that have been purchased for recess and lunch times. Throughout Term 3, we will teach students how to play: Corn Hole, Finska, Giant Jenga, Quiots and Kubb. These activities will continue providing students with a variety of options that encourage them to enjoy their outside space while developing skills in communication, team work, hand-eye coordination and fun play.
Counselling and Support for Students and Families
I would like to highlight how fortunate we are to have Lucinda Clay, our Student & Family Counsellor, supporting our students and families. The service Lucinda provides, aims to support students to achieve academic success, psychological health, and social and emotional wellbeing. There are many different services/opportunities that families may not be aware of. These include sleep hygiene (I actually received some great advice from Lucinda about this last week!), self esteem, emotional regulation, anxiety/worries, friendships and social skills, along with parenting support and information.
If you have any questions or would like to find out more about our School Counselling service, please do not hesitate to contact Lucinda,. She can be contacted at school on Wednesday or via email: lucinda.clay@mccg.org.au.
All students who wish to access the service require a current referral and parent/guardian consent must be obtained prior to students engaging in the service. Generally, students engaged in the service receive 6 to 8 individual therapy sessions which are provided at school. If you would like to refer your child, please use the link: https://mccg.my.site.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
End of Term
As we transition into the Term Two break, I’d like us to keep each other in our prayers. I hope this time is somewhat restful and an opportunity to spend time with family. For those that are travelling, remain safe. I would also like to extend my thanks to all parents, guardians, and community members for your engagement and dedication to our school community this term. This connection and commitment to St Mary’s helps us achieve our mission of nurturing and inspiring students to learn with confidence and lead with compassion.
I look forward to seeing our students back in Term Three,
Ryan
