It is hard to believe that we are already in Term Four. It has been great to welcome students back for the final term of 2024. This includes welcoming James King to St Mary’s for his first term at our school! We hope James and his family enjoy being a part of our school community.
Kindergarten Orientation
We are very excited about our Kindergarten Orientation days, starting on Friday 1st November from 9:00am - 11:30am. These days are a great way for our new students to acquaint themselves with St Mary’s and understand more about life as a ‘big school’ student. Families have been emailed relevant information about this day but if there are any further questions, please reach out to myself, Mrs Dumbrell or our office staff.
Kindergarten Orientation Dates:
Week 1: Friday 1st November
Week 2: Friday 8th November
Week 3: Friday 15th November
Week 4: Friday 22nd November
Student Learning Journeys
On Tuesday 29th October (Week 3), we would like to invite families into school so that students can share their 2024 Learning Journey with their parents/grandparents/family friends. The idea of this experience is for our students to share pieces of learning that they are proud of. This may include before and after writing samples, artwork, explanation of work samples, sharing of growth in Assessment tasks, among other things.
Families will be able to come in before and/or after school so that visitors are able to come in and participate in this special reflection for our students.
Waratah Gardens BBQ
Next Saturday 26th October, some of our parents will be running a community BBQ at Waratah Gardens from 10am -3pm. This open garden is a great opportunity for us to be present in the community and raise some money for school events and undertakings. If anyone is interested in assisting (even for a small amount of time), please contact Phillip Quarmby before next weekend. We have had a significant amount of parent involvement at various events this year and I wanted to once again highlight how appreciative our school is of this support.
Trivia Night and Raffle
I hope everyone is looking forward to the upcoming trivia night, which is also on Saturday 26th October at 6:30pm for a 7pm start at Batlow RSL Club. We are still taking bookings tables of up to 10 people, so it’s not too late to lock in some family and friends for this event. There will be some auctions on the night and tickets for the raffles will go home with students today.
Stage 2 Excursion
Next week will see our Stage 2 (Year 3/4 students) venture to Borambola for their overnight camp. I hope this is a great experience for them and look forward to posting some photos on the school Facebook page.
Farewell Mrs Stubbs
After a year and a half at St Mary’s, Mrs Stubbs has decided to step down from her position in the front office. I would like to thank Bernadette for her contribution to our school and wish her all the best in the next chapter of her career.
I look forward to seeing everyone over the coming weeks, we have lots of exciting events coming up.
