Dear Parents and Carers,
I trust everyone kept warm and enjoyed watching or playing in the snow over the weekend. It is a weather event we all look forward to every year in Batlow but what a dumping of snow! The students have enjoyed sharing their stories of snowball fights and snow ‘fun’ they enjoyed over the weekend.
Students behaviour on our playground deserves a special mention this week. It really is something to celebrate as confirmed by a visiting Catholic Education staff member last week. We know it is a positive time for students when we see them happy and mixing confidently with others. Staff have been providing other opportunities and activities for them to do whilst on our small playground and Year 6 leaders have been helping out with activities on Wednesdays.
As mentioned in a previous newsletter we are reviewing our Pastoral Care Policy and Anti Bullying Policy devoting staff meeting time to discussing best strategies alongside Catholic Education policy. Details will be presented to Community Council soon and then parents and carers in due course.
This Thursday is the Feast of the Assumption and Mass will be celebrated in the church at 12pm. This is a day of holy obligation in the Catholic faith. Please know that you are always welcome.
This week I am away at meetings from Wednesday to Friday. In my absence please direct any enquiries to our front office staff, or Ms Saunderson or Ms Buckmaster.
Kind Regards
Jannine
In the Catholic church, holy days of obligation are days on which catholics are expected to attend Mass.
This Thursday 15th August, the feast of the Assumption, is one of those days. We are very lucky to have a Mass in Batlow this week; an open invitation is extended. All of the children will participate in the Mass on Thursday.
On the Feast of Mary MacKillop the children wrote their favourite Mary Mackillop saying on a footprint, they are now in the school foyer for all to see and read.
A reminder to send photos to the school email for the children's Mass on Sunday 1st September which is Father's Day.
