Dear Parents,
Children’s Mass
This Sunday, we have our Term Two Children’s Mass. I am really appreciative of the effort our school community has made in building a positive connection with our Parish community and have students lead Mass. It is also a special gathering as Logan will also be making the Sacrament of First Holy Communion and it would be great to see his peers present to support him in this special celebration. If you can make it to Mass (5pm) please fill out the Google Form (click here) tomorrow, so that staff can organise students and their roles.
Mortimer Shield
Today, some of our students combined with St Joseph’s, Adelong to participate in the Mortimer Shield Rugby League and League Tag Gala Day in Gundagai. As previously mentioned, it makes me immensely proud to see our students challenge themselves in activities that go beyond our familiar network of people and experiences. This will hold them in good stead for the future. Congratulations to these students. Thank you to St Joseph’s, Adelong for playing with us and to our coaches and staff who went with the students. By all reports there were some tries scores, plenty of tackles made and a great experience had by all!
Semester One Reports
There will be further official Arch Diocesan correspondence regarding reports for Semester One but I wanted to flag with families that Semester One reports will be without teacher comments. This is a decision that has been made to ensure consistency across the system. In replace of this, we will offer optional parent - teacher conferences as another opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher. As always, parents and carers are always welcome to contact their child’s teacher at any stage of the term to discuss their child’s learning.
Library
Not many of you would know that my Mum was a teacher-librarian and I know it gives her great joy that my youngest child, Sonny, can't go anywhere without a book in his hands! Reading is such a wonderful skill, an interest for life and just like sport, music, dancing, farming or any other activity of interest, reading is something that can be fostered through opportunities to positively experience that skill.
How lucky are we to have a librarian who makes our library a vibrant space to learn, who accesses books and resources for students of all ages (she even purchases them on student request!) and also provides experiences that enrich the lives of our students! This week, our students participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime campaign, which saw the author of Bowerbird Blues, Aura Parker, read to our students and over two million other students across the country! What a great experience for our students. Thank you Mrs Murray for enriching students' lives with books! On that note, I encourage you to pick up a book over the weekend, and whether it be something read on your own or with your kids, immerse yourself in the joys that this great pastime can bring!
